The photo shows

a. A beautiful, inspiring snow-covered mountain that lifts my spirit and makes me glad to live in Colorado.

b. A pretty decent snow pack for late March, but a couple more spring blizzards would be good. We could sure use the moisture.

Answer Key: If you answered (b), you are either a native or naturalized. If you answered (a), let's just say that you are not here for the long term.

Definitely B for me. It's not just a Colorado response, now, nor even northern New Mexico. I keep checking in on the snowpack for central Idaho, my spiritual homa away from home, and thinking "Not too bad, but I hope it's not a hot April."

Looks like the south tail of the Sangres might be getting a little snow today. It's pretty good up there by recent standards, but another storm or two in April would sure be nice, or at least a cool spring. We just can't count on the summer rains anymore.

There is an interesting linguistic divide at work: To a Coloradan, nothing south of Blanca Peak is "the Sangres."
