About the only good effects are that all the wood and bark chips are blown off the veranda, saving me the trouble of sweeping, and the creation of weird-looking lenticular clouds.

Though the two most recent photos I took of clouds over the Wet Mountains were interesting, the wilder ones are those 'rotor clouds' that look like giant ocean waves (see thumbnail photos below the post on Chas' link).
Some of those rotor clouds might have been over Chas' house.
