In three days, you think that by following drainages down, they could have found a road, given all the logging roads in the Coast Range, but maybe there were factors that the news accounts leave out.

What, was the dog going to sacrifice herself by jumping off a cliff???
... or, after spending a week starving within what a fit dog would consider a short jaunt from where she knew there was warmth and food, did the dog just come to the realization that her fate was controlled by a pack of clueless dimwits, was she maybe just looking for any way out?
One of these days someone will write the definitive book on the subject -- "Lost nuts in the woods"
