Western Snowpack, March 4, 2018

Since I live in one of the tan areas, this snow-moisture map reminds me of 2002 — the year of the Hayman Fire, the year that M. and I went clear to Nelson, B.C., to see some greenery.

It's gonna be a long, hot summer if we don't get some snow in March and April. Lots of small fires already, luckily no big ones. Well, there is that fire down on the CO/NM/OK border... I wondered what it has for fuel, mostly mesas down there, no?

There is enough piñon-juniper forest (or as they say in Oklahoma, "cedar") down there to support a fire if the wind is blowing, which I am sure it is!
