Pix, Pulks, and Plinking
February 26-28 I went winter camping for the first time in a very long time, skiing in to a site on the Arapho National Forest north of Silverthorne, Colorado.
Blogger Sawtooth has put together a slide show about it.
It was a good trip, but my old down sleeping bag is not adequate for -18 F. (-26 C), and if I am going to repeat the experience, I need to upgrade!

18 below sounds tough! What are your impressions of the Kifaru gear?
Kifaru gear is excellent quality but not cheap, due to the quasi-custom way it is made. People who have it love it, though.
Me, I bought a new Osprey day pack recently. It's a Colorado company, but the labor was probably performed by Vietnamese.
Some of the small Kifaru shelters are the business for low-weight backpacking, though.
